From October 2018 to December 2022, I worked at CDIC as a Corporate Webmaster.
I handled web coordination and publishing, including upgrades and new features to the public website with internal/external partners and vendors. I also supported the marketing team with the creation of bilingual digital assets for social media and digital campaigns.
Key Responsibilities & Projects
Public website migrations
Coordinated two agency-led migrations of CDIC’s public website within a 6-month period.
- Scale & Impact: As the sole internal web team member, I successfully coordinated the technical and compliance phases for this high-stakes public website, which received approximately one million visitors per year.
- Pre-Launch Compliance: Led a comprehensive PDF audit and cleanup across the server to ensure regulatory readiness and reduce content liability.
- Technical Infrastructure: Built the core content inventory and created the detailed redirect map, which I passed directly to the external web host to ensure a seamless transition and zero data loss.
- Deployment Coordination: Drove the entire deployment pipeline, coordinating every update from staging to live, and acting as the continuous liaison between the internal team and external agencies.
- Quality Assurance:
Enforced WCAG 2.1 AA requirements. Tested pages, posts, and custom post types using template-based sampling; logged issues and confirmed all final fixes and brand alignment before public release.
Partner Integration & Platform Coordination
Coordinated with CDIC’s member financial institutions to deploy CDIC digital assets on their websites. Initially, I managed partner configurations by updating a JSON file used by CDIC.ca to detect referral sources and display the correct bank‑specific messaging. When the hosting provider and design agency developed a custom WordPress‑based management tool, I was responsible for populating it, mapping each institution to the appropriate messaging, validating integrations, and ensuring accuracy and accessibility across all partners‑related pages. This was a large‑scale, detail‑intensive project requiring technical precision.
Broker Support Tool: Custom Rebuild & Integration
Internal stakeholders approached me with a request for a tool to help brokers navigate CDIC coverage rules more efficiently. They shared an example from another federal website, and I reverse‑engineered the functionality by reviewing the source code. I rebuilt the tool using CSS and front‑end logic, adapted it to CDIC’s requirements, ensured accessibility compliance, and integrated it into the Brokers section of the site. The tool was later retired during a site redesign, but it served as an important operational resource and demonstrated my ability to deliver custom solutions without external development resources.
Social Media & Creative Asset Production
In the absence of an in‑house designer, I produced the majority of CDIC’s social media graphics, digital campaign assets, including some ads and print materials. I also provided desktop publishing services for internal clients, ensuring brand consistency, accessibility, and high‑quality execution across all channels.
